A COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) is a consortium of non‐profit, community-based, and faith‐based organizations whose goal is to facilitate service to those imperiled, impaired, or impacted by local disaster. A COAD works to improve resource sharing and communication, and to eliminate duplication of efforts in all phases of disaster preparedness and emergency management.
At our first two meetings, we started identifying what our community needs before, during, and after a disaster, and which organizations have resources or services that could be useful. We also explored how we might work together under a COAD, with Nevada County Office of Emergency Services, to meet unmet needs.
Meeting #3 will bring potential COAD participants together to review and provide feedback on the outline of the blueprint for a COAD in Western Nevada County. A COAD Manager, under the direction of an Advisory Committee, will use this blueprint to stand up our COAD in Western Nevada County.
We will be offering a virtual option for those who cannot attend in person — you will receive a Zoom link to join us upon registration.
